Molecular diagnostic microfluidic laboratories in suitcases for detection and identification of bioweapon pathogens are innovative and unique genetic analysis system successfully developed by Polish research teams leaded by MEMSLab of Wroclaw University of Technology.

The system utilizes nano- and microtechnologies combined with mechatronic instrumentation and smart detection techniques for fast, sensitive and reliable detection and identification of bacteria and virus pathogens, including Anthrax, Plague Tularemia, Brucellosis, Q-fever, Cholerae, E. Coli, Smallpox, Pig Influenza H1N1, Avian Influenza H7N7 and many other.

Complete genetic analysis system consists of three suitcase devices. The first one provides automatic isolation of genetic material from preliminary prepared samples. Two other instruments utilize microfluidic chips for analysis of genetic material by two well-known and established molecular diagnostic techniques: real-time PCR and Multitemperature Single Strand Conformation Polymorphism (MSSCP) gel electrophoresis.

Due to specific requirements of storage, transport and operation of military and epidemiological equipment, the devices are built-in PC control unit and touch screen providing intuitive and easy management of analytical process, as well as real-time result presentation and digital databasing.
